Learn why and how to update advertising erid-token in your affiliate tools                                             

If you publish content in Russian and previously filled in the required information to comply with Russian advertising law, your partner links and widgets may include a special advertising identifier token called erid.

This identifier is used to properly label advertising content and is required for projects targeting a Russian audience.

When and why you need to update “erid”

In some cases, advertising identifiers (“erid”) in partner tools need to be updated. This usually happens in one of the following situations:

• Travelpayouts changes its legal entity and re-signs agreements with brands (for example, on March 19, 2026 we updated to Travelspark Limited);
• A brand changes its legal entity, and we re-sign the agreement with them.

In both cases, new “erid” identifiers are registered for tools (links and widgets).

Which tools need to be updated?

The following tools fall under advertising law requirements:

• Affiliate links
• Widgets

Starting from March 19th 2026, if you copy partner links and widgets from your Travelpayouts account — they already contain valid and updated erid tokens.

However, your website or previously published content may still contain outdated versions of tools. To comply with advertising regulations, you need to update them.

Brands that require “erid” updates (as of April 7, 2026)

Below is a list of brands for which you may need to update “erid” identifiers. The reason may vary, but the required actions are the same.

The list may be updated — we recommend checking it from time to time.

Brands that changed their legal entity

For these brands, “erid” must be updated because the brand changed its legal entity:

Brands with agreements re-signed to Travelspark Limited

For these brands, “erid” must be updated because agreements were re-signed under the new Travelpayouts legal entity — Travelspark Limited:

If your tools lead to these brands, you need to update their erid tokens. We will notify you separately if updates are required for other brands.

How to update erid on your website

Method 1. Using Drive (recommended)

If Drive is installed on your website, it can automatically:

• update erid tokens in partner links
• add advertising labels to your pages

This significantly simplifies the process, especially if your website contains many pages.

To use this method, make sure the Drive is installed on your site. Updates will then happen automatically.

Note: Drive only updates links that already contain an erid parameter. If a link does not include erid, Drive will not add it automatically.

Advertising label on the page

Drive also automatically adds a text block with advertising information and advertiser details. By default, this block is placed at the bottom of the page.

If you want to change its position, add the following HTML element anywhere on your page:

Drive will automatically populate this block with advertiser information and erid.

Method 2. Update links manually

If you do not use Drive, update your links manually:

1. Open your Travelpayouts account
2. Go to the Tools section and select your project
3. Generate and copy a new partner link
4. Replace the old link on your website

We recommend starting with high-traffic pages.

Updating widgets

For some widgets, “erid” is updated automatically — no action is required.

All other widgets must be updated manually:

1. Open your Travelpayouts account
2. Go to Tools and select your project
3. Open the Widgets tab
4. Copy the updated widget code
5. Replace the old code on your website

To start, it is enough to place at least one widget with a new erid per brand you work with, preferably on high-traffic pages.

Updating banners

Erids in banners are not updated automatically.

Support for the old banners will be discontinued shortly, after which they will be disabled. This is because the links within these banners no longer comply with current advertising regulations. Continuing to use them may result in fines.

What you need to do:

1. Go to your Travelpayouts Account.
2. Select a different current tool to replace the old banner.
3. Place the new tool on your website or another project.
4. Remove the old banner to avoid using incorrect advertising links.

We will send an additional notification with details and dates for the deactivation of the old banners. However, we recommend that you start transitioning to the current tools now, without waiting for the deactivation.

If you use social media or messengers

If you publish links in the following channels targeted to russian audience:

• social media
• messengers
• email campaigns

make sure to use only updated links from your account.

We recommend updating previously published content where possible, starting with your most popular posts.

When updating your tools:

• use only updated links and widgets from your account
• prioritize high-traffic pages
• use updated tools for all new content

FAQ

Do I need to update all tools on my website?

If you use Drive, your links will be updated automatically.

Otherwise, you don’t need to update everything at once — start with your most important pages.

What happens if I keep old links?

Tracking and reporting will still work. However, to comply with advertising regulations, you should use current erid tokens.

Do I need to update tools for each brand?

Yes. If you work with multiple brands, make sure that at least one tool per brand uses the updated erid.

Do I need to update newly created tools?

No. All new tools in your account already contain valid erid tokens.

Does Drive add an advertising label?

Yes. Drive automatically adds a text block with advertising information for all advertisers whose links appear on the page.

By default, this block is placed at the bottom of the page.

Can I change the position of the advertising label?

Yes. You can control where the block appears by adding:

Drive will insert the label into this element.

What if I want to use my own advertising label?

You can keep your own label — this does not violate advertising requirements.

However, Drive will still add its own block, which may result in duplicate labels.

To avoid duplication, you can remove your custom label and use the one added by Drive. It will always contain up-to-date advertiser information.
