What are widgets and how to place them on your website
Widgets are interactive tools (like search forms, maps, calendars) that users can interact with. When a user clicks a button on the widget like Search, Buy, or Details, they’re redirected to the travel brand’s website to complete their booking. If the booking is made, you earn a commission. Here is an example of a widget:
Each brand on Travelpayouts may offer different widgets, such as:
- Flight search forms
- Hotel booking calendars
- Popular destination widgets
-
Route maps
Note: Some brands may not offer widgets.

Kinds of widgets available at Travelpayouts
When it comes to setup and installation, widgets come in two varieties:
- Customizable widgets: you can change the style, title, language, currency, and some other values in the form. Most widgets are customizable.
- Ready-made widgets. The appearance of such widgets cannot be changed.
How to customize and install the widget on the site
-
Click the Customize and copy button on the widget on the Tools page.
- A split screen will open:
- On the left side are the settings of the widget.
-
On the right side is the preview, which allows you to see exactly how the widget will look on the site.
-
Make needed changes to the widget, for example, change the width, color, number of tourists, destination, etc.
If there is a checkbox titled «start search automatically» in the widget settings, then you can start the search automatically when you open a page with a widget. To start the auto search, you need to specify:
- Country of travel
- The beginning of the trip
- The end of the trip
- Number of tourists
- You can also create a SubID for the widget to monitor the statistics and performance of that specific widget in reports. In the SubID field, you can enter, for example, the type of content, the theme of the article, or the place of the widget in the article. Some examples are: “hotel review”, “Asia”, “top-10 resorts”, and “link in the intro”.
-
Copy the code of the final widget by clicking on the Copy code button at the bottom of the page.
-
Paste the widget code into the code of your webpage, for example:
Now all purchases made using your widgets will bring you rewards. You will be able to see this information in the Reports section of your account. Read more in the Travelpayouts reports overview article.
Ready-made widgets
You can’t customize ready-made widgets. To add them to your website:
-
Click the Get the Code button.
- Optionally, create a SubID for the widget to monitor the statistics and performance of that specific widget in reports.
-
Copy the code of the widget and insert it into the source code of your website.
🔄 Some widgets are adaptive and automatically adjust to screen size. Others are fixed-size — check the widget’s properties before publishing.
Track widget performance
All bookings made via Travelpayouts are tracked in the statistics thanks to your partner ID, which is included in the code of the widget.
You can use SubIDs and the Content Analytics report to track how your widgets perform across different pages and placements on your site. This helps you optimize visibility and increase your earnings.
